The Board of Directors is made up of nine hardworking volunteers who set the policies for your credit union. They are consistently working to achieve one goal: improving the financial lives of our members. We hold elections for directors every April at the annual meeting. If you’d like to become involved in running YOUR credit union, we’d love to hear from you!
Joan has served on the Linn Area Credit Union Board of Directors for 44 years and currently is Vice Chairperson/Membership Officer. She is a member of the Executive Committee and has served as Secretary of the Board. In addition, Joan volunteers at Mercy Hospital and the History Center. She is a past board member and treasurer for both the Retired Teachers Association and the Eastern Iowa Heirloom Quilter’s Association. She has also served on numerous committees for St. Jude’s Catholic Church. Joan has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa and a master’s degree from the University of Iowa. She is retired after teaching 38 years in the Cedar Rapids School District. Joan has been a Linn Area Credit Union member since 1971.
Margaret has held a position on our Board of Directors since March 2011. She is currently the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Credit Committee. Margaret has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Finance and Accounting – from Tulsa University and is self-employed as a bookkeeper. A member of Linn Area Credit Union since 2011, Margaret and her husband, Rick, have three children and live in Marion.
Joyce has served on our Board of Directors since 2012 and is currently the Chairperson of the Board. She retired from Cedar Rapids Schools in 2009 after having worked for 32 years as a teacher, facilitator, counselor, and principal. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa, a master’s degree from Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State), and a doctorate from the University of Iowa. Joyce has been a member of Linn Area Credit Union since 1979. She and her husband, Tim, have two grown children — a son and a daughter.
Mike has been on our Board of Directors since August 1995, and he currently serves as Chairperson of the Audit Committee. Previously, Mike served as Secretary of the Board and as a member of the Credit Committee. Mike is retired from a 42-year career at ADM and has been a member of Linn Area Credit Union since 1991. Mike is a former member of the Teamsters Credit Union board of directors, having served for more than nine years in several capacities, including chairman, audit committee member, and chief financial officer. He has spent 35 years in the credit union movement and is a firm believer in the “people helping people” philosophy. Mike and his wife, Susan, live in Cedar Rapids.
Angie joined the Linn Area Credit Union Board of Directors in 2019, and she is Chairperson of the Credit Committee. She spent 10 years at LimoLink, serving as operations manager in her final capacity. In 2014, Angie opened Salon Voche, a boutique salon in Cedar Rapids. In addition to owning the salon, Angie is a full-time commercial real estate agent with GLD Commercial Real Estate. Angie has supported several organizations through sponsorships and service events, including the Abbe Center, Waypoint, and Last Hope Animal Rescue. She is a lifelong resident of eastern Iowa and currently resides in Marion with her husband and children.
Loren has served on the Board of Directors since 2014 and currently is serving as Secretary of the Board, as well as a member of the Credit Committee. Loren is a Corporate Real Estate Manager for Collins Aerospace. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business and an Associate Degree from Kirkwood Community College. Loren has been a member of Linn Area Credit Union since 1999. He and his wife, Katie, have two daughters and live in Lisbon.
Richard joined the Board of Directors in early 2021. Currently, he serves as Secretary of the Credit Committee. He has taught in Texas and Iowa schools for 25 years and currently works in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. After the derecho, Richard facilitated a remote learning station at the Catherine McAuley Center, and he continues to volunteer his services. He also coordinates his school’s resource pantry and food distribution through HACAP. Richard is a Navy veteran of 21 years; his service includes deployments to the Middle East. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Masters of Education Degree in Administration from Tarleton State University. He and his daughter live in Cedar Rapids.
Howard is completing his 40th year on Linn Area Credit Union’s Board of Directors. He served as Chairman of the Board for many years. Currently, he serves on the Audit Committee. Prior to his retirement, Howard was a counselor at Franklin Middle School and was with the Cedar Rapids Schools for 37 years. He is a lifetime member of the National Education Association. Howard and his wife, Diane, have two grown daughters. They have been Linn Area Credit Union members since 1961.
Nick has served on our Board of Directors since 2015. Currently, he is Secretary of the Audit Committee. Nick works for Black Hills Energy as VP Colorado Regulatory Affairs and Policy. He previously served as a member of the Iowa Utilities Board and served four years in the Iowa House of Representatives. Nick holds degrees from the University of Iowa in electrical engineering and biomedical engineering. He has been a member of Linn Area Credit Union since 1998. Nick and his wife, Mandie, live in Golden, Colorado.
