Linn Area Credit Union has been named one of the Coolest Places to Work for 2018 by the Corridor Business Journal. The award was presented on Thursday, August 23. This year marks the first time Linn Area Credit Union has entered into the ranking competition.
The Corridor Business Journal’s Coolest Places to Work identifies and honors local companies that have created the most engaging and rewarding work environments. Self-nominated companies in a seven-county region are selected based on a worker satisfaction survey.
“I am monumentally proud to have the privilege to accept our award on behalf of the Linn Area family,” said Jenny Lorenz, President and CEO of Linn Area Credit Union.
The credit union was ranked #6 among companies with 100 or more employees. To be considered for the listing, more than 60 percent of Linn Area Credit Union’s employees voluntarily completed an independent survey citing key benefits that they valued in their workplace.
“This feels great,” said Curt Gandy, Linn Area Credit Union’s Vice President of Marketing. “It really validates the philosophy we’ve always had of creating the kind of atmosphere where people love where they work and what they are doing.”
Lorenz added that the employees’ dedication and passion for helping Linn Area members and the community helps to make Linn Area a fun and cool place to work.
Like many credit unions, Linn Area Credit Union holds jeans days and other fundraisers to support the Children’s Miracle Network. The credit union also supports the Teacher Store, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Cedar Rapids Public Library, the Eastern Iowa Diaper Bank, and several other local nonprofit organizations. In 2017, Linn Area Credit Union was chosen a Pacesetter Company for the United Way of East Central Iowa.
