Linn Area Credit Union donated $4,000 to local school districts to help stock the school pantries with food and other necessities for area students and their families. (Woot!)

The $4,000 donation was divided between the Cedar Rapids Community School District; Linn-Mar Community School District; College Community School District; Marion Independent School District; Benton Community School District; Center Point-Urbana School District; and Central City Community Schools.

“This is a wonderful donation that will impact a lot of students,” said Emma Andeway, Homeless Services Specialist with the Culture and Climate Transformation Department of the Cedar Rapids Community School District. “We plan on dividing our funds up between all of our student food pantries in the district, which will give each pantry around $300.”

Linn Area Credit Union was originally the Cedar Rapids Teachers’ Credit Union — that’s just one of the reasons we consistently support local schools, students, and educators. (Yep, we have a soft spot for all that!) We’re also the driving force behind the Teacher Store, a nonprofit organization that supports our communities by providing free classroom materials and supplies to area K-12 educators and their students.

“Linn Area Credit Union is a member-owned financial co-op, and we’re passionate about supporting organizations that help local families,” said Paula O’Rourke, President/CEO of Linn Area Credit Union. “There is a real need for food assistance. We hope that our donations bring attention to these school pantries, so that more people will contribute, if they are able.”
