Racing Against Breast Cancer in 2021

At Linn Area Credit Union, we love to support our community and have fun along the way! As you may know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On Sunday, October 3, more than 30 Linn Area employees and family members participated in the 31st annual Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer. In spite of the scattered showers, our team had a great time walking together. We also had a few team members who ran the 5K!

For the second year, the Especially for You Race organizers invited us to create chalk art for the event, and we were happy to oblige! Two members of Linn Area’s marketing department chalked a supersized portrait on the walk in front of the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center. The 10-by-18-foot piece featured Sue Patton, a longtime EFY volunteer who passed away in May after a long fight with breast cancer.

More than 12,800 people registered for this year’s race, raising more than $385,000 in race registrations. Proceeds benefit the Especially for You fund, which provides financial assistance for mammography, biopsies, ultrasounds, and gynecological services for area individuals in need.
