The best first credit card for you
The Plugged In card was created for our younger and ridiculously awesome members to help you establish good credit, buy things conveniently and give you access to money in an emergency – without ripping you off.
We see it a lot: people who have gotten in over their head with their first credit card because they didn’t know what they were doing and it messes up their credit for a VERY long time. (Look here for a true story.)
We don’t want this to happen to you. There are no stupid questions and we are always here to answer them for you.
- 9.90% APR interest rate (and it’s non-variable, which means we won’t jack the rate up)
- No annual fee
- Limits of $500 and higher
- 25 day interest-free grace period on purchases
When used correctly, this card is an excellent way to establish great credit. For more info on how credit cards work and what you need to know, click here.

How to get it
You can apply online or stop by any branch and ask for a paper application. If you are 17 or younger, you need to list mom or dad’s information so we can get parental consent. If you’re 18 and older and have enough income, you will not have to have a cosigner. If you don’t quite meet the income requirements, no biggie: you’ll need to have co-signer over the age of 21.
How about some free stuff?
Read this very short (we’re talking 5 minutes here) webpage about credit card basics. We tried to make it as un-boring as possible (you’re welcome)! Plus, if you take the super short, 7-question quiz at the end, we’ll give you a t-shirt when you apply for the credit card.
